What We Do
Our Mission
At Cyber Protectors, we recognize digital harassment as a pervasive form of gender-based violence that has been under-researched and under-addressed. We strive to illuminate the realities of this cybercrime by collecting and analyzing comprehensive data on incidents of digital harassment. By raising public awareness and fostering a deeper understanding of its impact, we aim to advocate for informed policies and effective interventions that protect and empower individuals, especially women targeted by gender-based online abuse. Together, we strive to create a safer, more equitable digital space for everyone.
Additionally, we hope to improve the multiracial movement for equity and justice by building power for our communities, working in solidarity with other communities of color, and advocating for comprehensive solutions that tackle the root causes of gender-based violence against women. Our core strategies – Data & Research, Policy & Advocacy, Community Capacity Building, and Narrative Change – drive progress across three distinct issue areas to create a safer, more equitable future for all.
ONLINE VIOLENCE IS DIGITAL VIOLENCE.
The vast majority of reports we receive from the public are not digital harassment crimes, but rather acts of hate — such as verbal harassment or sexism in public spaces.
Even though all acts of hate are harmful and traumatic, most are not classified as crimes or cyber crimes. This means they cannot be addressed through our criminal legal system.
We champion non-carceral solutions to hate because they help us confront all forms of hate — whether they are hate crimes or not — and because carceral solutions, like policing, disproportionately harm BIPOC communities.
Through continued investments in these four strategies, Stop Digital Violence advances progress in our three core issue areas:
Data & Research, Policy & Advocacy, and Narrative Change
protecting survivors, understanding victims, and reporting cyber harassment.
Civil Rights, Community Safety and Transformation, and Education Equity.
Not all violence online may be Digital Harassment BUT Digital Violence is real & gender based.
You are not alone. Please use our resources to determine your situation.
Our Core Strategies

-
Policy and Advocacy
We hold leaders accountable and develop and advocate for policy change that centers GBV. Strengthen equal rights protections, dismantle systemic sexism affecting women, and support victims and survivors of gender basvd iolence and online harassment.

Narrative Change
Social change requires narrative change, or a cultural shift in how everyday people and decision-makers see and perceive the world. At [organization name] , we hope to tell stories that challenge harmful misconceptions about GBV and lowering the threshold on cyber harassment.
